The Wagoneer returns for 2023 with more standard and available features. First, the all-new Wagoneer L was introduced for 2023, with an additional twelve inches added to the overall length of the Wagoneer. To compensate for the additional length, engineers stretched the wheelbase by a full seven inches. This gives the Wagoneer L an additional fifteen cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, bringing it to 44.2 cubic feet. Additionally, the additional length gives the third-row occupants 42.7 inches of legroom and provides a total of 172 cubic feet of passenger space. Also new for 2023 is the all-new Carbide Edition. This special edition package available for the Series II trim adds a bold, all-black appearance to the Wagoneer. Outside, it features Gloss Black on the roof rails, grille rings, headlight rings, wheels, and door sill cladding. Meanwhile, Diamond Black is found on the front/rear fascias, door flares, and grille. Inside, the Carbide Edition's all-black theme continues with Global Black leather seating with Smoke accent stitching, a black suede headliner, and Piano Black accents. Standard with the Carbide Edition is a three-pane panoramic sunroof for an abundance of natural lighting and an airy feeling inside the cabin.

Upon its reintroduction, the Wagoneer employed a 5.7-liter V8 engine that offered drivers 392 horsepower and 404 lb-ft of torque. While this engine is still used for the base-level 2023 Wagoneer, a new engine is found under the hood of the Series II, Carbide Edition, and Series III. This is the all-new Hurricane engine. The Hurricane engine is a 3.0L twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine, delivering 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque while boosting fuel efficiency by 15% compared to the larger V8 engine. Both of the Wagoneer's engine options come paired with a sturdy TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels as standard equipment. However, all trim levels are eligible for Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, or Quadra-Drive II 4x4. Exclusive to the Quadra-Drive II system is an electronic limited-slip rear differential.
