Drivers shopping for a new Gladiator have two engine options to choose from. First is the standard 3.6L V6 engine, laying down 285 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque. When equipped with the available Trailer Tow Package, the Gladiator can haul up to 7,700 pounds. The V6 engine is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission that drives the Command-Trac part-time 4x4 system. Meanwhile, an 8-speed automatic transmission, Selec-Trac 4x4, and Rock-Trac 4x4 are available options. The optional 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and delivers 260 horsepower and an impressive 480 lb-ft of torque.

As was mentioned above, the Gladiator comes standard with Command-Trac 4x4, while Selec-Trac and Rock-Trac are optional. Command-Trac is a part-time 4x4 system, meaning it uses a shift knob on the center console, allowing drivers to shift between two-wheel drive, 4-high, and 4-low to best tackle the current road conditions. Selec-Trac 4x4, available for the Overland trim and standard on the High Altitude, is a full-time 4x4 system. With no levers to pull or buttons to push, Selec-Trac is an intuitive 4x4 system that senses road conditions and adapts accordingly. Lastly, Rock-Trac 4x4 is exclusive to the Gladiator Rubicon. Rock-Trac is another part-time system. When shifted to 4-Low, the Rock-Trac transfer case provides a gear ratio of 4:1. This means that for every four rotations of the transmission output shaft, the transfer case will turn both axles once. This gives the Rubicon better low-speed crawling control and higher levels of torque.

As we mentioned above, the Gladiator adopts many of the Wrangler's attributes, from its high and wide stance to the seven-slot grille to the removable top and doors. However, looking beyond that, the five-foot truck bed adds a level of utility that the Wrangler doesn't. The 2023 Jeep Gladiator Sport is the most basic Gladiator trim level. This entry-level trim adds an easy-lower three-position tailgate, Dana 44 solid axles, black wheel flares, black 17-inch steel wheels, black bumpers, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, locking rear seat storage, and a new air filtration system. Meanwhile, the Willys Sport is a cross between the Sport trim and the Rugged Willys trim, still featuring a 7-inch touchscreen and many of the Sport's other features, the Willys Sport adds aggressive mud-terrain tires, rock rails, the Trac-Lock locking rear differential, and more. The Willys trim features all of the Willys Sport features and adds an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, navigation, and more comfort and convenience features. The Rubicon trim gets FOX shock absorbers, 33-inch all-terrain tires, locking front and rear differentials, Rock-Trac 4x4, and an electronically disconnecting sway bar. While the Rubicon focuses on rocky terrain, the Mojave is equipped for sandy desert-like conditions with FOX 2.5-inch internal bypass shocks, front hydraulic jounce bumpers with external reservoirs, a one-inch factory lift, high-clearance fender flares, 33-inch all-terrain tires, and a locking rear differential. The High Altitude trim tops off the lineup with a body-color hardtop, body-color fender flares, and body-color bumpers for a premium appearance. Other standard features include 20-inch alloy wheels, Nappa leather-trimmed seats, LED exterior lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more.
