Exterior Design of the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept
While it still uses the standard cab-and-bed design of a pickup truck, it takes the design in a completely different direction with a full modernization. Looking at the Ram 1500 Revolution head-on, you'll find it to have an intimidating high and wide stance supported by an upgraded front fascia with 'tuning-fork' LED headlights on either side of the modernized grille with an updated and illuminated 'RAM' emblem. The lower portion of the front fascia flows down to a bumper with two swiveling tow hooks that fold flat against the bumper while not being used. The bumper flows underneath the vehicle into a skid plate to protect the undercarriage. Even in the absence of an internal combustion engine, the Ram 1500 Revolution still features a hood. However, underneath the hood is a 'frunk', or front trunk, for additional cargo storage. The frunk also features a pass-through opening, allowing for cargo to stretch from the bed, through the middle of the cabin, into the frunk. Instead of four doors that swing toward the front of the truck like most crew cabs, the Revolution's doors swing opposite each other, so the front doors swing forward, and the rear doors swing towards the bed. This coupled with the absence of a B-pillar, gives you a wide-angle view of the whole cabin. In true futuristic fashion, the Ram 1500 Revolution's exterior features many powered components, including the flush-mounted door handles, the charge port door, the side steps, the tailgate, the frunk lid, and more! The tailgate is multi-functional with a 60/40 split to either swing open horizontally or fold down like a normal tailgate. Additionally, it includes a bed-extending gate to allow it to take on items up to 18 feet in length. The Revolution is a crew cab with a five-foot-seven-inch bed, however, the cabin is four inches longer than the Ram 1500's current crew cab models.
Ram 1500 Revolution Interior Design
The cabin of the Ram 1500 Revolution concept is designed to be a versatile one-space environment. That's why Ram created the RamTrack rail and track system on the floor. This allows owners to slide the seats and console into a position that configures the truck exactly the way they need it. Additionally, the center console features two fold-out panels for a hard surface to eat lunch, do paperwork, and more. Furthermore, the center console can also be fully removed to maximize space. The Ram 1500 Revolution features four bucket seats, however, for the first time ever, third-row jump seats are mounted to the midgate to create space for additional passengers. When not in use, the seat cushions can either be folded against the midgate or removed and stored elsewhere. The midgate can also be folded down, adding even more cargo space to the bed. Two touchscreens, one on top of the other, each spanning 14.2 inches, occupy the entire center stack. Meanwhile, the lower touchscreen can be taken out and used as a tablet to control many of the functions of the truck. Stepping inside, you'll notice that the dashboard doesnt feature a gauge cluster behind the steering wheel. Instead, it uses an augmented reality head-up display, projecting pertinent driving information onto the windshield within easy view of the driver.
Power and Capability of the Ram 1500 Revolution
Ram has claimed to lead the segment in towing capacity, range, and charging times. The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept is an all-electric vehicle, completely void of an internal combustion engine. It employs one electric drive module (EDM) at the front and another at the rear for standard all-wheel drive performance. Of course, with purely electric power, torque is sent to the wheels with virtually no delay for lightning-fast response times. Ram has stated that the battery, strategically placed low at the center of the frame, will charge at up to 300 kilowatts, giving owners 100 miles of range in just ten minutes. Moving on to the truck's capability, it features standard four-wheel steering, with the rear wheels able to turn up to 15 degrees to greatly enhance its maneuverability. Additionally, the Revolution comes with an independent rear suspension for a smoother ride.
