Long
car rides can be uncomfortable, frustrating, and-if you have kids with
you-loud! Rather than dread your trip, make the most of it with these fun tips!
· ·      Break up the driving. Sure, it'll take longer to arrive at your ultimate destination, but who says you have to drive by beautiful scenery or pass up potentially awesome stops? Take pictures on scenic overlooks, try the "World's Best Hamburger" at that truck stop, or drive a bit out of your way to see that famous landmark.
·        Bags for the breaks. Plan ahead and pack bags of snacks or games for each stop. If you're in an open green space, toss the frisbee around. If you're at a picnic area, nosh on homemade sandwiches and snacks. If you're lucky and stopping at the beach, pack a bag with bathing suits, towels, and plastic bags to keep the wet stuff in after the trip.
·        Entertainment is key. Passengers can use their devices to stay occupied, but request they use headphones so you don't have to hear the cacophony of noise that results in multiple games and movies playing at once. Then, put on your favorite music or podcast and enjoy!
·        Make gas refills work double duty. When possible, get gas at a rest stop. That way, everyone can use a clean-ish restroom, grab a snack, and stretch their legs.
·        Be the passenger. The same person doesn't have to drive the entire stretch. Take turns and rest your eyes when possible.
e   Collect the garbage. Even with one person, a long car ride can result in a mini-trash heap in your vehicle. Designate a garbage bag and dump it at each stop. It sounds like a small gesture, but it makes a huge difference, especially if you've discarded prepared foods that have big stink potential!
