What Charger Comes with the Purchase of a Jeep EV?

The first kind of EV charger is the one that comes with the purchase of any new EV. The Level 1 EV charging cable is plugged into a traditional three-prong 120-volt outlet. At the other end of the cable is an SAE 1772 connector that plugs into the vehicle's charging port. A Level 1 EV charger provides roughly 1.2 kilowatts, providing a Jeep 4xe with a full charge in approximately 10 hours. Meanwhile, it takes a Level 1 charger up to three days to fully charge the all-electric Wagoneer S. Charging times depend on the battery's current state of charge as well as the size of the battery. The larger the battery, the longer it takes to charge. Level 1 chargers are ideal for leaving the vehicle plugged in overnight to give it plenty of charge for the next day while still avoiding overcharging.

Level 2 EV Charger

Level 2 chargers are popular among EV owners as they provide faster charging times. While Level 1 chargers plug into a traditional outlet, Level 2 chargers are professionally wired into your home's electrical system for better energy efficiency. Jeep's Level 2 chargers are provided by Free2Move and feature an alternating current for up to 10 to 19 kilowatts of power. This provides Jeep 4xe owners with a full charge in 2.5 hours and an all-electric vehicle in 8 to 10 hours. For the professional installation of Level 2 EV chargers, Jeep has partnered with Qmerit and their vetted installation professionals. Level 2 chargers are also most commonly found at public EV charging stations, as they provide a quick charge to help get you to your destination.

What is the Fastest Way to Charge an EV?

The final charging option that EV owners have is Level 3, commonly referred to as Direct Current (DC) Fast Charging. Currently, DC fast chargers are only found at public charging stations and are only available to charge fully-electric vehicles, such as the all-new Wagoneer S. Level 3 chargers deliver more than 400 volts and can deliver a full charge to an EV in just 15 to 60 minutes!  With the Free2Move charging smartphone app, it's easy to find a nearby Level 3 EV charging station. The app also allows you to pay for public charging and activate your charging session from your smartphone.
