What size electric motor comes in the Jeep 4xe?
Jeep plug-in hybrid technology pairs a traditional gas engine with incredible electric motor performance. The Jeep PHEV powertrain has a 2.0L DOHC DI Turbo I4 engine and an electric motor on each axle. A front motor is a 33-kW unit that pumps out 44 horsepower. An integrated transmission-traction motor is a 100-kW unit, good for 134 horsepower. This powertrain delivers a combined 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.
How does Jeep's Driving Mode work?
Jeep's electrification allows you to adjust the electric output to suit different driving conditions, recharge and do it all over again with your choice of three driving modes: Hybrid, Electric, or eSave. Electric Mode allows for nearly zero tailpipe emissions up to highway speeds. The 4xe can run on this mode for a distance of up to 25 total miles on a full charge. The default Hybrid Mode combines torque from both the PHEV powertrain with a 2.0L DOHC DI Turbo I4 engine and the electric motor. This combination provides maximum horsepower, instant torque, and thrilling acceleration. In this mode, electric power is consumed first. eSave Mode prioritizes the 2.0L engine, saving battery charge for later use. When power demand is low, the engine shuts off. It can also be reconfigured to increase the battery charge as well.
Are Jeep's electric batteries waterproof?
A powerful 17.3 kWh battery lies at the center of each Jeep 4xe vehicle. It only takes two hours to fully replenish its energy with a Level II battery charger so you can get back to your all-electric adventure. Travel confidently wherever you go, thanks to the uncompromised capability that maintains the spirit and authenticity of Jeep. The 4xe batteries are safely sealed behind a waterproof casing to help you traverse bodies of water up to 31.5 inches deep. Wrangler 4xe offers the same water fording capability as its gas-powered counterparts, sacrificing nothing. In addition, the Jeep 4xe battery is built for distant destinations. Travel through remote landscapes with nearly silent performance when in Electric mode and take advantage of the 21-mile all-electric range on the Wrangler 4xe.
Does it take long to recharge an electric Jeep?
Jeep's PHEV has two simple charging solutions to choose from. The Level I charging system, which comes standard on every 4xe SUV, means you can plug your Jeep 4xe into a typical household outlet at night and wake up in the morning, and it will be recharged. The available Level II Jeep TurboDX Electric Vehicle EV Charger, which uses 240 volts, is simple to use and offers a faster charge than Level I. The Level II charger can fully charge the battery in approximately 2 hours versus 12 hours. Jeep has partnered with Qmerit to make installing a Level II charger at your home simple. For most home configurations, it's as easy as providing some information about your home layout and electrical panel.
