What engines are brought in with the 2020 Wrangler?

In order to power the Wrangler to be one of the most capable vehicles on the market, Jeep brings in a great selection of powertrains. Coming standard on each Wrangler is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that produces upwards of 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This V6 comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission or optional eight-speed automatic transmission that comes with each other powertrain. Jeep also works in an optional eTorque assist with the Sahara trim that enhances the overall fuel economy of the powertrain. Also coming optional with each trim model is an advanced 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that can push out 270 horsepower and an improved 295 lb-ft of torque. Coming optional on the Wrangler four-door models is a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine. This engine greatly enhances the capabilities of the Wrangler when put to work, pushing out 260 horsepower and an improved 442 lb-ft of torque that allows the Wrangler to tow up to 3,500 lbs of capacity.

How is the Wrangler designed for off-road capability?

The legendary off-road capability of the Wrangler starts with its core structure, with durable aluminum doors and open steel chassis the Wrangler resists dents and warping from impact with rough terrain. On top of the 10.9-inches of ground clearance the Wrangler has, the underbody skid plates and rock rails also provide additional protection to the vital systems. Each Wrangler comes with Jeep's incredible 4x4 system that provides enhanced torque distribution between the wheels to establish traction. The Wrangler Rubicon also comes with an electronically controlled sway bar disconnect and Tru-Lok front and rear differentials further enhancing the Wrangler's capability. Most impressive is the Rock-Trac part-time transfer case that enables the Wrangler to have a 4:1 low-gear ratio. There is no surprise either that with these tuned systems the Wrangler achieves a best-in-class off-road capability, with a 44-degree approach angle, 27.8-degree break-over angle, and 37-degree departure angle.
