2013 Subaru Forester vs 2013 Jeep Patriot Philadelphia PA

The Jeep Patriot is a proud member of the Jeep family and continues the SUV tradition started by its ancestor almost seventy-five years ago. The nice thing about the Patriot is that it gives you choices. Besides being one of the premiere off-road vehicles, it's also an urban beauty that can take comfortably to the mall or up the hill on a rocky road. The choice is yours. There are other choices too. You can get either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. The Jeep Patriot comes with a five-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission. You can get the optional Trail-rated off-road package that turns your urban masterpiece into an off-road professional. There are also two choices for engines.

The 2013 Subaru Forester is a comfortable family car that is not necessarily built for off-roading, but its all-wheel drive does allow it to go maneuver through light sand and muddy fields. It has good storage space and comes with 16-inch wheels, Bluetooth capability, CD player, roof rails, plus USB/iPod interface. Optional features can get you heated front seats, windshield de-icer, fog lights, and a Tom-Tom navigation system, along with a touchscreen audio system.

2013 Subaru Forester Power & Handling

The Forester has good safety results from the IIHS, also. It received "Good" ratings for frontal-offset and roof strength tests. The Forester is quick out of the hole and its acceleration is adequate when passing. The four-speed transmission (automatic), seems to decrease the fuel efficiency potential of the Forester, however, and the get up and go could be a little stronger.

2013 Jeep Patriot Power & Handling

The Patriot handles very well and accelerates quickly off the line. It also passes other cars efficiently and the steering is smooth and responsive. The Patriot is proving itself to be not only reliable in all traffic conditions, but it's a no-nonsense vehicle when it comes to safety and performance. Frontal-offset and roof strength tests performed by IIHS have gotten the Patriot high marks for safety. The optional side-curtain airbags make it even safer.

Design of the 2013 Forester

The Forester is basically a functional SUV. This vehicle's interior hasn't earned any bragging rights yet, but it is pretty straightforward. The interior is roomy and comfortable, even for long-legged passengers. The middle rear seat sometimes gets in the way of actual comfort back there, because it is also used as a drink holder and console. The cargo space is adequate and the car itself, because of its size, is somewhere between a large compact SUV and a mid-sized Sports Utility Vehicle.

Design of the 2013 Patriot

The Jeep Patriot's dashboard gauges are user-friendly, that is, easy to read, and the touchscreen is easy to use. A thoughtful feature that has proven to be very useful is the pop out cargo lamp that becomes a rechargeable LED flashlight. You can also get Boston Acoustics speakers in your tailgate. When your tailgate is lifted, the speakers can flip down for all your neighbors or invited party guests to listen to. The manual transmission available in the Patriot is strong enough and smooth enough at the same time to give your off-roading experience an extra level of excitement and a dah more capability.

Conclusions

The Patriot is much more than a Jeep. It's an SUV, to be sure, but it's also an off-road vehicle chomping at the bit to go and explore some rocky incline. It also likes to be around civilization, such as the shopping center and fine dining establishments. This Jeep can really fit in where many vehicles can't. It is like Indiana Jones; it can be a real part of the established culture while at the same time it yearns to be out in the wild.Â
