2013 Honda CR-V vs 2013 Jeep Patriot Philadelphia PA

The 2013 Jeep Patriot has a lot going for it. It's a terrific off-road vehicle with solid fuel economy and it's one of the lowest priced, family oriented compact SUVs on the market. It has three models to choose from, the Sport, Latitude and the Limited editions and each one comes with great features. The Sport, the base level offers cruise control, CD player, fog lights, roof rails, 16-inch wheels and audio jack. The Latitude has everything that the Sport offers plus leather wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats and height adjustable front seats, among other standard features. The Limited is the Patriot's top of the line model and besides what the Sport and Latitude models have, it adds leather upholstery, a trip computer, upgraded exterior and rear disc brakes, among many other things.

The Honda CR-V has little changes from the 2012 model. This compact SUV was designed for small families and offers a four-cylinder, 2.4-liter engine. It gives good fuel efficiency, but lacks any choice for an upgraded and more powerful engine. The CR-V comes with 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, cruise control and a rearview camera, among other features.

2013 Honda CR-V Power & Handling

The CR-V comes with a five-speed automatic transmission, powered by a four-cylinder engine. Front-wheel drive is standard on the CR-V, but all-wheel drive is optional. The CR-V is a little slow for this size compact SUV, but acceleration is fine when passing on the freeway.

2013 Jeep Patriot Power & Handling

The Jeep Patriot Sport and Latitude are equipped with a four-cylinder engine that pushes out 158 horsepower and gets 22 mpg in town and 28 mpg on the highway. The Patriot Limited comes with a larger four-cylinder engine and all models come with the choice of a five-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission. The ride is pretty smooth and quite dependable no matter which model or transmission or engine you pick. For more traditional off-roading, the Freedom-Drive packages are recommended. These add even more reliability and skill to this great little Jeep.

Design of the 2013 CR-V

The CR-V has ample cargo space and a fold-down rear seat for expansion of the storage area. Although the CR-V hasn't gone through that many noticeable upgrades since last year, it does have some nice amenities in the cabin. Bluetooth and Pandora interfaces will allow you to stay connected to the outside world, along with streaming audio capability.

Design of the 2013 Patriot

The Jeep Patriot is still a Jeep at heart when it comes to design. It might have an urban look and feel, but it can get down and dirty and still get you where you want to go in one piece. Safety was and is a big concern in all Jeeps and the Patriot is no different. Stability control and traction control systems come standard, as do plenty of airbags, including side-curtain airbags. The antilock braking system is simply par for the course with this Jeep and the Patriot received high grades in safety tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, IIHS).

Conclusions

The CR-V has ample storage room and has a pretty comfortable interior. There is no available manual transmission available and the rear seats don't slide back and forth the way they used to. Also, there is no option for an engine upgrade in this Honda. The Jeep Patriot has many attractive features and is very family-oriented. Being a Jeep it is also one of the top choices for off-road vehicles.
