2021 RAM 1500 vs 2021 Chevrolet Silverado

In need of a full-size pickup for your Philadelphia commute? The Ram 1500 and the Chevy Silverado are the top-rated pickups on the market today. Let's find out which one will fit your life best. Both options are popular work trucks, so let us break them down and compare them side by side to see.

2021 Ram 1500 Handling

Ram gave the 1500 four outstandingly powerful engines. The 5.7L HEMI V8 engine with the class-exclusive eTorque Mild Hybrid Technology System combines performance-enhancing and efficient technologies to create an extra 130 pound-feet of torque, giving this engine a 12,750lbs tow rating. Of course, there is the legendary Ram 5.7L HEMI V8 engine offering you the power that you have come to expect from the HEMI name. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine with eTorque delivers power and efficiency like no other. The 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine achieves best-in-class 480 lb-ft of diesel torque and a diesel towing capacity of 12,560 pounds. Ram's monster engine is the 6.2L Supercharged HEMI V8 engine. This monster can charge from a standstill to sixty MPH in just 4.5 seconds.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Handling

The Silverado offers six engines. Their Duramax 3.0 diesel engine delivers 277 horsepower and 460 pounds of torque, 20 less than the Ram 1500. This engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and comes with a 9,500-lb. maximum towing capability. That is 3000 less than the Ram 1500! The 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 comes equipped with a Dynamic Fuel Management system and is paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. Chevy also offers their EcoTec3 V8 in a 5.3-liter engine but is only offered with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This configuration provides 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque.

2021 Ram 1500 Features

Ram designed the 1500 to be luxurious and functional. The multifunction tailgate is a prime example of this. This tailgate swings open two different ways, the 60/40 split swing-away doors or a traditional tailgate. New for 2021 Ram 1500 is the available center bed step on the tailgate, which helps make bed access easy to manage. This tailgate is everything you get with a traditional tailgate, plus the split doors offer extra features to give you more versatility when loading and unloading. The 60/40 split swing-away doors open 88°, allowing you to access cargo, even while trailering quickly. The multifunction tailgate functions as a traditional tailgate when that's what the job calls for, handling up to 2,000 pounds with ease. This Ram 1500 is loaded with outstandingly intelligent features. The class-exclusive RamBox Cargo Management System offers versatile, weatherproof, lockable, illuminated, and drainable storage bins on each side of the bed. How come this wasn't thought of sooner!

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Features

The Silverado comes in a few different cab configurations, Crew Cab with Short Bed or Standard Bed, Double Cab with Standard Bed, and Regular Cab with Long Bed. The Silverado was built with a high-strength steel safety cage, and the bed is constructed from roll-formed high-strength-steel construction. Chevy calls this a Durabed. The Durabed comes with 12 standard tie-downs. The Silverado also has a multifunctional tailgate like the Ram they call there's a Multi-Flex Tailgate. However, theirs does not offer split swing-away doors. It just opens down like a conventional tailgate. The Silverado does provide excellent lighting through their cargo area and perimeter lighting. There are lights on the corner pillars angled toward the front of the box, cab-mounted cargo lights, and hitch-area lighting to help light up the night.

As you can see, both of these trucks offer workability. However, the 2021 RAM 1500 offers far more power, way more technology, and the most luxurious interior in its class.
