2017 RAM 2500 at Reedman-Toll Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram

If you want a truck that can haul massive weight with a refined, class-leading aesthetic, the 2017 RAM 2500 is the vehicle for you. A wide range of personalities appear in this truck lineup, whether it be in the Texan Lone Star or the new and off-road-ready Power Wagon. The Power Wagon is big news for the 2500, offering incredible features such as a 12,000-pound electric winch and unique styling features. Additionally, this year's Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited trims have a standard 6.4-liter HEMI engine, making them more capable than ever. Bilstein monotube shocks now come standard on the Laramie Longhorn and Limited. A workhorse and a comfortable ride, the RAM 2500 is a unique, heavy-duty truck.

Under the 2500's Hood

The 2017 model year RAM 2500 has three available engines. The first, standard on most 2500 trims, is a 5.7-liter V8 engine with 383 hp at 5,600 rpm and 400 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. Higher trim levels come standard with a 6.4-liter V8, capable of 410 hp at 5,600 rpm and 429 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. If you opt for the Mega Cab, the horsepower drops to 370. You could also choose to go with an intense diesel engine. It's a 6.7-liter turbocharged diesel inline-six-cylinder engine and can be paired with the standard six-speed automatic or a segment-exclusive six-speed manual. If you choose to stick with the automatic, you'll get 370 hp at 2,800 rpm and an astonishing 800 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm. If you opt for the manual transmission, you'll be able to achieve 350 hp at 2,800 rpm and 660 lb-ft of torque at 1,500 rpm. You get your choice of two-wheel or four-wheel drive.

Design of RAM 2500

Three cabs, two bed lengths, and eight trim levels make up the design of the new 2017 RAM 2500. There's a traditional regular cab with two doors and seating for up to three passengers, and two cabs, Crew and Mega, with four doors and seating for up to six. The Mega Cab adds a lot more interior space. You can opt for one of four configurations: regular cab with an 8-foot bed, Crew Cab with an 8-foot bed, Crew Cab with a 6-foot 4-inch bed, or Mega Cab with a 6-foot 4-inch bed. Eight trims levels, starting with the Tradesman and ending with the Limited, are available for the 2500. The Tradesman is a basic workhorse, offering vinyl upholstery, a stereo system with six speakers, a locking tailgate, automatic headlights, a tilting steering wheel, black grille and bumpers, a 40/20/40-split front bench, and 17-inch steel wheels. Other trim levels are: SLT, Big Horn, Lone Star, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Power Wagon, and Limited.
