New Wrangler Power and Handling

The new engine gives great output and a quite detectable improvement in power -- the Pentastar is much faster from a stop and when you are passing in this vehicle. This new engine has a sound that is more upscale than the rough 3.8 liter and the exhaust sound is throatier. Combined with the automatic transmission or manual, the driving experience feels much more refined. Where the 3.8 feels punchy, the 3.6 liter really makes the JK feel young and full of life. Early Jeep estimates show that the new engine reduces 0-60 times by 2-3 seconds with either transmission. This was confirmed by a test run on the track with a Wrangler Sport. This new Jeep reached 60 mph in 6.7 seconds, but the other Jeep with the 3.8-liter Wranglers took 9.8 and 10.2 seconds to achieve the same speed.

It came as no surprise that the Jeep received a recent award from Four Wheeler magazine. Wrangler Sahara adds air conditioning, keyless entry, power windows and door locks, 115-volt power outlet, Infinity speakers with 368-watt amplifier, body-color hard top, body color fender flares, tubular side steps, heated power mirrors, Bridgestone Dueler P255/70/R18 tires on painted aluminum wheels.

Wrangler Rubicon is equipped for off-road. It has most of the standard Sahara comfort and convenience things (though power windows and keyless entry become optional), while adding rock rails, Tru-Lok front and rear electronic differential locking, electronic front axle locking, Heavy Duty Dana 44 front axle, 4.10 axle ratio, Rock-Trac 2-speed transfer case with 4:01 low range, and BF Goodrich Mud Terrain LT255/75/R17 tires on painted aluminum wheels.

Conclusions

The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most accomplished off-highway vehicles available today. Its four-wheel drive system offers no-road capability and its convertible body style offers open-air fun. The Unlimited body style has greater cargo capacity, making the Wrangler more practical. You'll give up a lot of ride and handling prowess, as well as fuel mileage, but the Wrangler is fun.
